Kawayu Onsen Travel Guide
After scaling the mountains of Hokkaido, it is possible to go on a daytrip to Kawayu Onsen, a vast array of spas and hot springs where visitors can soak the fatigue away. A train ride away from the Kushiro marshlands, this quaint resort town is dotted with a broad range of onsens (hot springs), from the ritzy to the absolutely free.
A unique feature of Kawayu Onsen is the ashiyu onsen (foot hot springs), where weary feet can rejuvenate in shallow pools of toasty water.
