Due to successful experimentations of curious cooks all over Hong Kong, the country has been labeled as a "Gourmet Paradise "and the "World's Fair of Food". With cooking methods rooting from ancient Chinese kitchens, Hong Kong cuisine is a huge magnet for tourists. Sprawled on the streets are Dai Pai Dongs or open-air stalls and pushcarts selling cheap but tasty fishballs, Put chai ko (an original Hong Kong cake), and Chiuchow-style noodles. At night, these side-street restaurants serve higher-priced seafood dishes. For taste buds that are not up for street foods, there are also air-conditioned restaurants and specialty shops which serve national delicacies like beef jerky, and dried shredded squid only at a higher price.
