The Dona Paula Beach was named after Dona Paula de Menzes. The story goes that Dona Paula was the daughter of a viceroy during colonial India. She wanted to marry a local fisherman named Gaspar Diaz but when she was refused permission, she threw herself off a cliff. It is also said that her ghost is seen from time to time wearing only a pearl necklace. This interesting history plus the clear waters of the beach has made this place popular among beach goers.

Goods sold along the Dona Paula Beach are cheap. Tourists can also indulge in various water sport activities such as snorkeling, harpoon fishing, sports fishing, water scooter and many more.
