Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest dam, sits next to Yichang, making this city in Hubei Province an ideal take-off point to visit what is pegged as "China's most ambitious project since the Great Wall." The cave here houses poetry engraved in stone, while the park contains Sino-Japanese memorials, old defense walls, ancient city remains, and a river-viewing pavilion.
