In 1740, after a bloddy massacre which involved Chinese immigrants, the whole community was confined by the government outside of the city walls. This was known as Glodok. Today, Glodok is also known as Jakarta's Chinatown. Here, tourists will find traditional markets that sell authentic Chinese goods, several shops, hawker stalls and temples that give you a taste of China.

The Glodok market is also found in Chinatown. Here you can buy various electronic products and gadgets at reasonable prices. The Vhara Dharma Bhakit temple and Da Shi Miao temple are also worth visiting while in Chinatown.
