/ Asia / India / Orissa / Bhubaneswar / Temples / Rajarani Temple

Rajarani Temple is one of the more popular temples among the many found in Bhubaneswar which is also known as the City of Temples. The temple is believed to have been built during the 10th or 11th century BC. It is made from reddish gold sandstone which is known as Rajarani in local language, hence the name of the temple.

The Rajarani Temple stands on a raised platform. The gateway of the temple is guarded by two pillars with snakes. The walls of the temple are also adorned with several sculptures, more specifically women in dance poses. This gives the temple a very energetic feel to it.
