Standing 60 meters high, the Fort Canning Hill is located in the central business district of Singapore. Visitors shouldn't be disappointed with the size of the hill, there are a lot of things to be seen here to learn about the fort's very long history. In 1819, the locals believed that this was the site where ancestral kings built their palaces, which is why they were afraid of going up the hill. It is also believed that the final resting place of the last Malay king is located at the foot of the hill. Stamford Raffles built his first residence atop the hill as well. This was then turned into a fort by 1859 and the British Army used this as their headquarters during the Second World War. A number of gardens, fortifications and historical spots in Fort Canning Hill can be visited by visitors today.
