The Surrender Point is perhaps one of the most significant World War II historical spots in Labuan. This small stone marks the site where the division of the Japanese army known as the 32nd Southern Army surrendered on September 9, 1945. It marks the liberation of the area from the Japanese through the efforts of the 9th Division Australian Imperial Forces.

During the time of the signing of surrender, the Surrender Point was a simple shack under coconut trees. This was where Lieutenant General Masai Baba, who commanded the Japanese forces, formally surrendered to Major General George Wootten, commander of the Australian forces.
