If you're a woman riding the trains in Japan during rush hours, do remember that there are carriages meant exclusively for you. This is to avoid the so-called "chikans", or perverts who try to take advantage of the crowded trains to grope and fell up women. Probably the best way to avoid this is to never ride when it is rush hour. After all, you're a tourist!
