The rule of the thumb when drinking with a buddy in Japan is pour first his glass and wait him or her to pour yours. Like Korea, it is also impolite in Japan to pour your own drink.
Also tipping at restaurant is not the norm. So keep your extra cash for the 5 to 10 percent service charge to your bill.
