The Khajuraho Temple is actually a series of temples and monuments in Madhya Pradesh. It is currently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are a lot of misconceptions about the temple. Although it is true that there are carvings on the temples' outer walls depicting couples in sexual act, this isn't the Kama Sutra temple. A lot of people have called it that but the fact is that only 10% of all the carvings on these monuments have sexual content and they do not depict or interpret the famous sutra.

It is also interesting to note that the carvings that depict couples in sexual act are located on the outside walls of the Khajuraho Temple. There are several meanings that can be derived from that such as the deities and gods found in the temples are no longer tempted by pleasures of the flesh.

Today, the Khajuraho Temple is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country due to its carvings and ornaments. However, a lot of this popularity is based on a common misnomer that this is the Kama Sutra Temple.
