Agra Fort

Also known as the Red Fort, the Agra Fort is located just 2 miles from the infamous Taj Mahal. The fort was built during the reign of Akbar the Great in 1156 and the construction was completed in 1605. Most of the buildings in this amazing fortress was designed and built by Shah Jahan, the same person who built the Taj Mahal. The whole fort stretches 2.5 km with its walls built from red sandstone, hence its nickname of the Red Fort. The first thing that tourists will see after entering the Amar Singh Gate is the Great Courtyard. From here visitors are treated with various architectural wonders such as the Diwan-i-Am or the Hall of Public Audience, Royal Pavilions, Nagina Masjid and Mina Masjid and the Zenana Mina Bazaar among many others. The Agra Fort is an amazing place to visit, indulging in amazing architecture completed almost 3,000 years ago.
