Beware of departure tax

Before going out of Ecuador, remember that you will be charged an international departure tax amounting to US$40.80, if you are going to take an airplane in Quito's international airport. It's cheaper if you are going to take a plane in Guayaquil as the tax is only US$26. The tax is paid separately from the cost of the airplane ride.
