The Mogao Caves is also known as the Mogao Grottoes or the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas. Another name for this place is the Dunhuang Caves, derived from the name of its location. This is actually a system of 492 temples located to the southeast of Dunhuang.

The Mogao Caves is home to some of the best examples of Buddhist art from a thousand years ago. This oasis located at a crossroad of the Silk Road is best known for Longmen Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Chinese Buddhist Grottoes.
