There is little doubt that Taktshang Goemba is the most famous temple in Bhutan. It has even become the image to represent the whole nation. This amazing structure is found on a cliff more than ten thousand feet off the ground in Paro Valley.

Taktshang Goemba literally means Tiger's Nest Temple. The name was derived from the story of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, flew to this site on a tiger's back from the Himalayas during the 7th century.

The site is one of the most religious in the whole country. It houses several images, altars and statues devoted to several gods and deities. Aside from that, it is a magnificent temple in terms of beauty and grandeur.
