Belarus Traveler guide

Be aware that in Belarus, the crime rate is higher than in most European countries, and corruption is rampant.

Avoid looking like an unknowing tourist, or a rich  jet-setter. There are reports of some police officials ripping tourists off. A common modus operandi is they will wave you down and charge you with almost any infraction you can think of.

In case something like this happens to you, cooperate with them and report it to your embassy, which may be able to help.
