Places in Pakistan you may want to avoid

Pakistan remains to be a hospitable place  to stay in, though you may have to take your caution one or two notches higher than you usually would.  Remember to first consult your embassy for travel advisories as well as a run-down of places you may want to stay away from. 

Avoiding the areas near the Afghan border should be part of common sense.  The Swat Valley has earned the reputation of being the hotbed for Pakistan army and Taliban encounters, and should never be visited by tourists.  North and West Balochistan are also unfit for travelers. 

The borders of Azad Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir are off-limits to international tourists, though domestic visitors may have access to the former.
